Overview:
The overall structure of CAT-2015 was very different from that of CAT 2014. The exam consisted of 3 Parts. Part 1 consisted of the VARC section. This section was divided into two sub-sections having 24 and 10 questions respectively comprising 34 questions to be attempted in 60 minutes. Further, Part 2 had the DI and LR sub-sections consisting of 32 questions to be answered in 60 minutes while Part 3 had the Quantitative Ability section comprising 34 questions that had to be answered in 60 minutes. Total time for CAT 2015 was 180 minutes. For the first time CAT introduced the TITA question type; these were open-ended questions where test-takers would have to type in the correct answer.

Section I – Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability
The CAT Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability sections have been easy and doable for the past couple of years, and this year was no exception. There were 24 RC questions, and 10 Verbal Ability/Reasoning questions. The passages were easy to understand and no passage had very abstract or dense subject matter. All the Verbal Ability Questions were TITA questions. There were no Grammar questions in the VA section. The exact question distribution was as follows:

A good student should be able to attempt 26 of the questions in this section in the allotted time. There were 3 Difficult Para Jumbled questions which could have been avoided. The final question in passage 4 was also tricky and best avoided. Also, there were a couple of Odd Sentence out of the Paragraph questions which were time consuming and somewhat difficult. Section II – Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning
As per student feedback, the Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning Sets were very time consuming. In particular, the sets in Logical Reasoning were much more difficult than the Data Interpretation Sets .This section was certainly the toughest and the most challenging among the three sections. The calculator was useful in solving a few of the DI questions. A rough break-up of most sets is given below.
